Tread Lightly (Poetry)

Tread lightly with a heart like mine.

It isn’t fragile glass

but an old battlefield map

creased by years,

edges burned from fires

no one else remembers.

It takes decades sometimes

to read the coordinates of my intentions.

People glance once

and think they know the terrain,

but time is the only lantern

that reveals what lives beneath the surface.

Every scar is a landmark.

Every silence

a story that refused to die.

Tread lightly,

not because I will break

but because the weight of consequence

lingers here like thunder

long after the storm has passed.

Time keeps its own ledger.

It measures truth in seasons,

not seconds.

And when the pages turn

what was hidden

stands taller than the lies that tried to bury it.

Leadership is not forged

in the comfort of applause

or the softness of easy roads.

It is carved

in the moments when the world expects you to fold,

when the night presses in

like a closing fist

and you decide

to stand anyway.

Weakness doesn’t mold a leader.

Endurance does.

The quiet strength

of carrying the weight

without letting it poison the heart.

So tread lightly.

Not out of fear—

but respect

for the long road

that built

a heart

like mine.
