Ode to the Music Man (Poetry)

I can’t lose what we built.

Not after all these miles.

Not after the late nights,

the quiet talks,

the storms we learned to walk through

instead of around.

This road is hard.

It doesn’t come with shortcuts

or safety nets.

But I’m determined to make it through

because you taught me

that survival isn’t luck

it’s discipline, love, and showing up

even when you’re tired.

You took me in

when my world was still rearranging itself.

No contracts.

No conditions.

Just space to breathe

and permission to become.

You didn’t try to rewrite my past.

You just helped me carry it better.

That’s real parenthood.

You guided me with patience,

not pressure.

Corrected me without breaking me.

Protected my growth

instead of controlling it.

You saw potential in my scars

and strength in my silence.

You stayed.

Faithfully by my side through this journey,

through the rebuilding,

through the healing,

through the moments I questioned

whether I was enough.

You never wavered.

They talk about legends like they’re distant,

made of headlines and highlight reels.

But real legends live in kitchens and car rides,

in hard truths said with love,

in hands that don’t let go

when things get heavy.

You taught me

that family isn’t always who you’re born to,

sometimes it’s who chooses you

and keeps choosing you

every single day.

So thank you

for taking me in.

For guiding me.

For standing tall beside me

when I was still learning

how to stand at all.

Thank you for your parenthood.

For your presence.

For your steady belief in who I’m becoming.

I carry your lessons in my backbone.

Your love in my rhythm.

Your faith in every step forward.

I won’t lose what we built.

This road is hard,

but I’m walking it stronger

because of you.

Forever thankful.

Forever loyal.

Forever family.
