The Weight of Truth and the Patience of Time (Poetry)

Success is an interesting process. Every now and then, it asks us to stop moving, sit quietly, and reflect on the roads we’ve traveled. Looking back often reveals patterns we couldn’t see while living through them. Sometimes it exposes growth. Other times, it exposes manipulation.

There are moments when gaslighting and false narratives seem to hold people captive. Stories get rewritten, intentions become distorted, and suddenly you’re being told to “grow up” by those who have quietly benefited from your generosity, your work, or your success. The irony is difficult to ignore.

Eventually, though, perspective shifts.

The focus returns to what truly matters. The heart may remain the same, but awareness evolves. You begin recognizing unhealthy patterns before they become permanent. And every so often, someone stronger, wiser, or simply more grounded walks into the room and quietly extinguishes the fires that others were hoping would spread.

One lesson I’ve learned is this: kindness is not consent. Compassion is not romance.

Just because I care about people does not mean I’ve fallen in love with them. My friendships are exactly that, friendships. My chosen family is simply my chosen family. If I call you mom, your mom. If I see you as a parental figure on the father end, I’m no George Michael so please don’t objectify and just dismiss the situation. My reality doesn’t involve a sex cult by any means.

The relationships and networks I’ve built throughout my life have never come with a price tag, but my heart certainly does. Trust is earned through consistency, honesty, and time. Now don’t get that twisted with appearance.

I’ve never been someone who falls for appearances alone. A smile, a title, popularity, or a carefully crafted image has never been enough for me. Surface-level attraction fades. Character remains.

Please don’t mistake boundaries for rejection or rewrite my story to fit someone else’s narrative. I’ve spent too much of my life serving others, protecting friends and family, and navigating situations where the truth mattered more than convenience. I’ve walked enough difficult roads to understand that evidence eventually speaks louder than rumors.

Today, I am single because I choose to be.

This chapter isn’t about pretending to be in a relationship or filling a void simply because society expects it or society induces itself to the gossip at hand. So do not play with my heart like it’s expendable because it’s not. It’s about continuing to learn who I am, protecting my peace, and allowing authentic connections to develop naturally.

My friends are my friends. That isn’t complicated.

What becomes complicated is when people assign false titles, manipulate emotions, or attempt to create stories that never existed. Those things have a way of catching up with us. Time has an incredible habit of revealing where honesty lived and where performance took its place.

I’ve never hidden who I am. My attraction to both men and women has never been a secret. But authenticity also means respecting people’s hearts, honoring boundaries, and refusing to exploit someone’s trust for attention, status, or personal gain.

For those who support me, I simply ask this:

Listen carefully before accepting someone else’s version of another person’s life. Truth rarely needs to shout. It simply waits.

Support those whose actions consistently reflect integrity. Pay attention to those who carry the torch through humility, accountability, and compassion, not just those still chasing applause while avoiding their own reflection.

Success isn’t measured by how many people know your name.

It’s measured by whether your character remains intact after the noise fades.

Because in the end, patience has a remarkable way of introducing the truth. And truth has never needed an audience to survive. It only needed time.
